Two-Way Love

God and His Children
The Abrahamic Covenant sums up this two-way love. God says (I paraphrase) "I will be your God and you will be my people." In John, we read that we love God because he first loved us. Elder Holland's conference address also touched on this concept, (again I paraphrase) "The first great commandment is that we love God with all our might, mind, and strength.  We often forget that the first great truth is that God loves us with all his might, mind, and strength." What is so striking in all of these statements is the fact the God is so much more than we are. His love is greater than ours can be, his might is beyond comprehension, his mind is omnipotent, and his strength is infinite.

Living worthy for such a perfect love is intimidating, but Elder Holland also admonished to keep hope. He pointed out that being reminded of what we must do to improve is intimidating but we must work on it and not be discouraged.
